The traditional- and folk-music duo Liz&Tim have been playing together since 1986 and are a favorite in the East Tennessee region they call home. Readers of the Oak Ridge (Tenn.) Observer voted them Best Traditional Music Group of 2007. The duo consists of husband and wife team Tim Marema (vocals and guitar) and Liz McGeachy (vocals) of Norris, TN, and their music emphasizes the harmony singing they both learned at church and from their families when they were growing up. Liz&Tim do some original songs, but their favorites are the beautiful traditional and folk songs of the Appalachian region.
Liz&Tim have performed at many festivals and events throughout the region, including the Master Musicians Festival and Seedtime on the Cumberland Festival, both in Kentucky; the Southern Highland Craft Guild Festival in Asheville, N.C.; the Mennofolk Festival in Michigan, Ohio and Virginia; Mary and Martha’s Place in Atlanta, Ga.; the Historic Rugby Concert Series in Rugby, Tenn.; the John C. Campbell Folk School Fall Festival in North Carolina; and other venues throughout the region. They have four recordings: Here We Go (a collection of old standards presented in a new way, a few classics, and a couple of originals by Liz&Tim, 2008), Weaving Heaven & Earth (songs of human and divine longing, 2003), Some Bright Morning (spiritual harmony, 1998), and Waltzing with Bears (music [not] just for kids, 1996).
