Grace Christian Academy is a private, coeducational college-preparatory K-12 Christian school. It is at 7171 Oak Ridge Highway in the Karns community of Knoxville. The school is located approximately six miles east of Pellissippi Parkway and one mile south of Emory Road.
Grace Christian Academy opened in 1997 with an enrollment of 55 students. Today the school is attended by more than 800 students. More than 200 of those students attend the high school.
Grace Christian is fully accredited by both the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Association of Christian Schools International. It is the largest Southern Baptist-affiliated school in the state of Tennessee to receive this dual accreditation. The school is an outreach ministry of Grace Baptist Church.
High school students can compete in sports including volleyball, football, basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, soccer and cheerleading. The school is a member of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association.
Grace Christian high school students will complete a minimum of 26 credits, including those in Bible, English, social studies, math, science, foreign language (German or Spanish), health/physical education, as well as electives that include art, drama, speech, ensemble, sociology, psychology, business courses and yearbook. Students may also take Advanced Placement courses and participate in job shadowing or community service projects.
Admission to Grace Christian is based on a written application, letters of recommendation and an interview. Tuition covers the cost of instruction, books and workbooks, standardized testing fees, lab fees, and ACSI and SACS membership fees. The cost of admission for high school students for the 2008-2009 school year was $5,670.
