The Farragut Folklife Museum Committee will host “Celebrate! 75 Candles for Elvis,” an open house fundraiser in honor of Elvis Presley’s 75th birthday on Friday, Jan. 8, 2009, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Farragut Town Hall. The event will serve as the grand opening of the Museum’s special Elvis exhibit, which will be on display through early spring.

The event will feature an extensive collection of Elvis memorabilia, both serious and humorous, on loan from Farragut resident Lee Durand, including his famous Elvis mobile. Elvis impersonator Chris Baratta will entertain attendees, as well as local band, Offering. Tours of the Museum will be given continuously throughout the event and light refreshments will be served.

“The Museum held a similar event to celebrate Elvis’ birthday several years ago and it was a huge hit,” said Museum Coordinator Julia Jones. “We’re expecting a large crowd of Elvis enthusiasts to join us again this year.”

“Celebrate! 75 Candles for Elvis” is free and open to the public; donations to the Museum will be greatly appreciated. The Museum is housed in the Farragut Town Hall and is located at 11408 Municipal Center Drive. For more information, contact Julia Jones at julia.jones@townoffarragut.org or 966-7057.
