Tellico Tales - Appalachian storytelling event
Two well-known storytellers will present traditional and contemporary stories about life in Appalachia during “Tellico Tales,” at the Tellico Village Community Church Fellowship Center.
Tellico Tales will include stories and music by Faye Woodson of Maryville, and Elizabeth Rose of Harriman, TN. Both performers are active in Appalachian area professional storytelling organizations and have been recognized in national storytelling competitions.
Storytelling is a traditional Appalachian folk art. Many stories have been handed down from generation to generation. Performers follow traditional storytelling formats relying on their life experiences, observations and imagination. The stories are narratives that are often improvised based on audience interests.
Tellico Tales storytelling will be appropriate for all ages, with a special emphasis on children’s stories during the 2:00 p.m. matinee. An evening performance will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available online at tellicolakerotary.com or at the door. $5 for children, $10 for adults. Tellico Tales is an annual fundraising event organized by the Tellico Lake Rotary club. Proceeds will be shared between The Good Samaritan Center of Loudon and the Monroe County Good Shepherd family support service.
