'Hannah Montana's' dad: Miley Cyrus was special from birth

Billy Ray Cyrus says his daughter Miley Cyrus is “living up to her potential” as a role model for young girls.

During an interview on Friday afternoon at Regal’s Pinnacle Stadium 18 theater at Turkey Creek in West Knoxville, Billy Ray Cyrus said he knew from her birth that his daughter, the hottest teen star in the world, would be special. Her birth name wasn’t Destiny Hope Cyrus for no reason.

“I think she is living up to that now when I see the kids sing and laugh and cry during this film,” he said during the opening day of “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” which stars the Cyruses.

“Those are emotions people are experiencing worldwide. Miley is so undeniably real. She has a gift for translating that emotion to people all around the world.”

“Hannah Montana: The Movie” is a big-screen adaptation of the “Hannah Montana” series on the Disney Channel. The movie opened today.

The Cyruses made surprise visit to various theaters in the region to promote the film. Their schedule was not made public, though, to prevent “security issues” with the popular 16-year-old singer-actress.
