Next week, reconnect with Mother Nature.
The Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park runs Wednesday-Sunday and boasts a huge variety of outdoor and indoor programs.
The more than 150 wildflower and wildlife walks, talks and photographic tours in the park require advance registration. The five-day event is headquartered at the W.L. Mills Conference Center in Gatlinburg.
This year's 59th pilgrimage is a tribute to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park's 75th anniversary.
Premiere evening presentations and speakers are planned, including a Wednesday engagement with Tom Peterson, climate scientist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and lead author on a Nobel Prize-winning report on global warming. The featured evening presentations are free to the public, do not require registration and will be held in the conference center.
For details on the programs, visit www.springwildflower pilgrimage.org or call 865-436-7318, Ext. 222.
