Wednesday benefit aids orphans in Uganda

Soprano Colette Boudreaux, organist Bill Snyder, singer/pianist Scott Joiner and cellist Melinda Burgin perform a benefit concert 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at the Tennessee Theatre, 604. S. Gay St.

The concert supports the Kirbao Foundation that helps educate orphans in Uganda by sponsoring students from primary school through vocational and university training.

Boudreaux is a West High School graduate who performed at the Tennessee and Bijou theaters while growing up in East Tennessee. She received her bachelor's degree from the Oberlin Conservatory and her master's in vocal performance from the Manhattan School of Music. She is a soprano who has sung at Carnegie Hall and at New York's Verdi Square Festival.
