We compare two pop-culture subjects to see which you like better. To be included in next week's tally, vote for your favorite before noon on Monday. This week's match:
LANE KIFFIN vs. PHILLIP FULMER
We had to go there. Folks jumped all over us this past summer for not giving Lane Kiffin a chance to coach his first UT game before we started polling readers about their opinions on him. Well, his first regular season is in the bag, and at 7-5, he finished two wins better than Fulmer's 5-7 record the year before - and he's got a chance to add one more with the New Year's Eve Chick-fil-A Bowl match-up against Virginia Tech. But how do YOU think The Kiff is shaping up against his predecessor?
LEGACY
Kiffin: He helped shape hand-me-down quarterback Jonathan Crompton into a real contender. Also, black uniforms on Halloween, shellacking Georgia and South Carolina and drawing out Kentucky's haplessness against the Vols.
Fulmer: Before the decline that led to last season, he did win a little something known as the national championship. Oh, and he made a movie with Sandra Bullock.
COMMITMENT
Kiffin: In January he named his newborn son Knox.
Fulmer: Those weren't crocodile tears in that press conference.
MOUTHING OFF
Kiffin: Had plenty of choice words about other Florida coach Urban Meyer, SEC referees and the town of Pahokee, Florida.
Fulmer: We only remember that tight grimace he made when a player fumbled or dropped a pass. Which seemed, like, all the time in 2008.
LADIES SAY ...
Kiffin: Awww, yeah!!!
Fulmer: I bet he'd love my fried pies.
LAST WEEK: MARTHA STEWART vs. RACHAEL RAY
Our pick: Martha Stewart, because she knows where we live.
Your pick: Rachael Ray ran away with 70 percent of your vote.

This is RIDICULOUS!
How can you put two people against each other who are on the same "team", so to speak!
RIDICULOUS!

Your serious? KNS loves to keep the sh** going. OK Fulmore will allways be a will respected coach for what he did with the Vol program in the 90's, but it was time for a change after 2005 and 2008. After 2009 and a freash wind blow in named Coach Lane Kiffin, it looks like he is what the doc oredered. CLK is now getting a tast of what it's like to be a SEC coach, but I do not see him running and hideing like some thought he would, he is being a man of class! So to answer your qustion, both men is what UT has needed at the time. Just wished CLK had come to UT right from USC, and maaybe 2008 wounld have not hapened.

Yea, I can't vote in this poll. Both those guys are awesome. Maybe they'll meet in a national championship game in 2-3 years. (Haha JK; but, if they did, GO VOLS!).

Unfortunately 2008 had to happen. Nothing short of a meltdown would suffice.

this is so stupid is this the best you can do for a poll? Ridiculous!

What is this? One of the silliest, pointless comparisons they have ever thought of. Go back to the drawing board.
Laydbakvol writes:
You can't have a legacy after one year. A record, yes. A reputation, definitly. But a legacy? Comparing Fulmer in his last year to Kiffin in his first is apples and oranges.

I think this whole recruiting violation thing will go away soon but i think it could really hurt the recruiting this season. Who wants their kid to go to a college with so much negative attention. The NCAA should be financially responsible for it also when recruits start changing their minds. I think this is gonna hurt and UT should make the NCAA pay for it.
al2476 writes:
They both are a hugh part of UT football history and they are loved by most all fans. That is those that are true Vol fans. We should never try to have a poll to see who is the greatest or best liked coaches, that is a personal matter that should be disscussed in small groups, not to be aired in an open forum , such as this.
Rebelyell789 writes:
This poll doesn't feel right. I'm on the Lane Train, but I WILL NOT run over Phil. EVERYONE ELSE IS FAIR GAME!!

I used to admire the KNS (seriously, I did for their sport coverage) growing up as a kid. Now, they are a discrace. It's the most NEGATIVE literature I have ever took a glance at. It is TRULY RIDICULOUS!!!!!
roloyo writes:
Why don't they match Phat boy and Majors and leave CLK out of it??
Hobby writes:
Not voting. Run this in 17 years or after kiffin leaves. STUPID POLL
