NEW YEAR’S ROCKIN’ EVE
Rock bands Royal Bangs, Warband, Three Man Band and DJ Megalon Esquire will entertain during a New Year’s Eve concert and dance party presented by Pilot Light at the Midtown Art Center, 513 Cooper St. at Fifth Avenue.
Knoxville’s Royal Bangs headline the show after returning from a European tour that took them from London to Paris and throughout Belgium, Denmark and the Netherlands. Admission is $10.
OLD CITY NEW YEAR’S EVE
The Kevin Abernathy Bands, left, the Tim Lee 3 and Jake Winstrom will entertain during a New Year’s Eve celebration beginning at 9:30 p.m. at Patrick Sullivan’s, 100 N. Central St.
Abernathy’s band will perform tunes from the 2009 CD “A Beautiful Thing” and more. Former Tenderhooks singer Winstrom will perform with Tim and Susan Lee and drummer Matt Honkonen, also from Tenderhooks.
Admission is $8. Festivities include a champagne toast at midnight. The show is for ages 21 and older.
NEW YEAR’S EVE AT KMA
The “Alive Into 2010!” party will have music and celebration 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at the Knoxville Museum of Art, 1050 World’s Fair Park Drive. Ohio singer Teeny Tucker, left, and band and Knoxville group Slow Blind Hill will entertain.

AMERICAN MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND ENERGY
The interactive exhibit “Football: The Science of the Game” is still open through Jan. 4 at the American Museum of Science and Energy, 300 S. Tulane Ave., Oak Ridge.
Also on display at the museum is “From the Attic to the Archives,” an exhibit that shows how the facility collects artifacts through donations, plus how the items are chosen for other exhibits.
