Actor Johnny Knoxville was detained at Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday for carrying a non-armed grenade into the airport in his luggage, according to the Associated Press.
The Knoxville-raised star of "Jackass" and several feature films was detained and later released and allowed to board a flight to Miami. According to the AP report, airport security screeners spotted the grenade in Knoxville's carry-on luggage. A bomb squad determined that the grenade lacked a firing pin or explosives. Knoxville, whose real name is Philip John Clapp, reportedly said the grenade was a prop that he forgot to remove from his luggage.
Prosecutors have not yet decided whether to charge the 38-year-old actor with the misdemeanor charge of bringing a prohibited item into a secure area of an airport.
Thursday night Knoxville responded to a Knoxville.com text saying he was in flight to Jamaica to shoot the MTV show "Nitro Circus." He added, "What a crazy morning."
