Side Splitters comedy club is celebrating its grand opening in Knoxville with performances this weekend by Tim Wilson and Janet Williams, aka "The Tennessee Tramp." Located in the spot formerly occupied by The Comedy Zone, Side Splitters is hoping to recreate the comic success it has had at its original location in Tampa, Fla.
The new club is located at 9246 Park West Blvd. in the Cedar Bluff area.
Tim Wilson has recorded numerous comedy and music CDs, appears sometimes on the Johnboy & Billy radio show and co-wrote "The Redneck Twelve Days of Christmas" with Jeff Foxworthy.
Chattanooga comedian Janet Williams has also been a guest on the Johnboy and Billy radio show and others. Her act presents her as "a crazy grandmother, a wacky aunt or a nutty neighbor." She has appeared for two seasons on BET Comic View, and played the character "Trudy Sparks" in the sitcom pilot "Mystic Java," filmed in Chattanooga.
Side Splitters also plans to have comedy open-mic nights. For information, visit www.sidesplitterscomedy.com.
