Bill Regas reflects on 90th anniversary at Knox Heritage event

On July 7, 1919, Greek immigrants Frank and George Regas opened Regas Restaurant on Gay Street as an informal dining spot.

It later moved to its present location to be near the Southern Railway station and fashionable hotels.

At 10 a.m. today at the Time Warp Tea Room, 1209 N. Central Ave. in Old North Knoxville, learn more from Bill Regas as part of Knox Heritage's monthly Preservation Network series. It's free and open to the public.

Regas Restaurant is celebrating is 90th anniversary this month, making it among the oldest continuously operating restaurants in the state.
