HIGH-DIVING PIG RACERS
You can't much simpler than this description of Randall's High-Diving Racers from the troupe's press kit: "It's a pig show."
The pigs race, as pictured at left, but as implied, they also dive. The pigs will fly at 6, 8 and 10 p.m. each day through Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Jefferson County Fair, Highway 11-E in Jefferson City, behind the Jefferson Middle School.

'MOON OVER BUFFALO'
The Ken Ludwig stage comedy "Moon Over Buffalo" will be presented at 8 p.m. at Theatre Knoxville Downtown, 319 N. Gay St.
The play is about a 1950s theatrical couple whose stars are fading. They have one more chance at the big time - Frank Capra is coming to see their play and might cast them in his next movie. If only everyone can remember which play it is they are performing, they just might pull it off.

'JAMMIN' FOR JOY'
The Atomic Horns and Slow Blind Hill will compete in "Jammin' for Joy," a charity battle of the bands to benefit the Joy of Music School, at 5 p.m. at the Lakeside Tavern patio at Concord Marina, in Concord Park off Northshore Drive.
C. Vaughan Leslie and Boys' Night Out will also perform.

Knoxville-gone-Nashville singer-songwriter Matt Urmy, left, will entertain during the WDVX Blue Plate Special noon-1 p.m. at the Knoxville Visitor Center, 301 S. Gay St.
The free lunchtime concert will also feature the folk group Half-Doofus with Neal and Coleen Walters.

Illinois musician Fitzsimmons visited Knoxville just a few months back. His recent album is "The Sparrow and the Crow."

'JULIE & JULIA'
Amy Adams, foreground at left, plays Julie Powell, who wrote a memoir about learning to cook using a cookbook by Julia Child (Meryl Streep).
Powell's book crosses paths with Child's own memoir in the new movie "Julie & Julia." Both women are looking for a focus in life and find in in a passion for fine cooking.
The cast of the PG-13 rated film also includes Stanley Tucci, Chris Messina and Jane Lynch.

ANIME DOUBLE FEATURE
Two animated classics by Japanese filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki will be shown at 9 p.m. at the Bijou Theatre, 803 S. Gay St.
"Princess Mononoke" (PG-13) is the tale of a brave young princess, raised by wolves, who defends her forest against approaching humans. "Spirited Away" (PG) tells of a girl's journey through the "bath house of the gods."
Admission is $5.

FINE-ART FURNITURE AT KMA
The exhibition "Arms, Legs, Feet, Heart & Soul," showcasing the work of the Cumberland Furniture Guild, runs through Sunday, Aug. 9, at the Knoxville Museum of Art, 1050 World's Fair Park Drive.
This show features furniture by artisans currently residing in Middle and East Tennessee.
