Staying one busy gal, Dolly Parton is set to perform with the cast of "9 to 5" during the Tony Awards on Sunday night. The show can be seen locally at 8 p.m. on WVLT, Channel 8.

Parton wrote the music for the Broadway version of the hit movie. "9 to 5" the musical is up for four Tony Awards.

The Tony appearance is a first for Parton.

The evening promises to be quite star filled. Elton John, Liza Minnelli, Stockard Channing, Poison, Kristin Chenoweth, Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis, Edie Falco and Will Ferrell are among the presenters. "How I Met Your Mother" co-star Neil Patrick Harris will be the host of the awards show.

Parton wrote more than a dozen songs for the musical.

In other Parton activity:

n Besides the Tony nominations, the singer has another feather in her cap. Actually, it's another badge on her sash.

Girl Scouts of Tanasi Council collaborated with Parton to make a "Coat of Many Colors" Girl Scout patch program. It is based on Parton's best-selling autobiographical song about her East Tennessee childhood and her mother's love.

Growing up with 11 siblings in Sevier County, Parton immortalized a coat made of rags that her mother stitched for her in her 1971 song of the same name.

"Have you ever felt bad about being different? I'll bet you have," Parton tells girls in a video message on tanasi.org. "But you shouldn't - being different is what makes you special."

Girl Scouts earning the "Coat of Many Colors" patch learn to value others - no matter how different.

"This message is especially important in the current economy," said Mary Leidig, chief marketing officer for Tanasi Council. "Girl Scouts are leaders, and our patch program helps our girls step out and find ways to care for those in need. And in our challenging economy, so many are in need."
