Leno to perform at Stars on Stage

Comedian will be special entertainer at Tennessee Theatre event May 2

Comedian Jay Leno will be the special performer for the Tennessee Theatre Stars On Stage event at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Tennessee Theatre.

Leno, host of the "Tonight Show" since 1992, leaves May 29 to host the prime time "Jay Leno Show" on NBC.

Sponsored by Regal Entertainment Group, the annual Stars On Stage event raises funds for the Tennessee Theatre. Past performers include B.B. King, Bill Cosby and Tony Bennett.

VIP ticket holders also get admission to a pre-show reception at 6 p.m. and an auction with items including a catered private dinner party on the stage with music from the Mighty Wurlitzer; a private movie screening for up to 1,500, plus sodas and popcorn; your message on the theater's marquee for 24 hours; and a guitar autographed by Tennessee Theatre performers, including John Prine.

VIP tickets cost $250. The cost is $95 and $85, plus applicable service fees, for Leno's performance alone. A portion of the price is considered a tax-deductible donation to the nonprofit Historic Tennessee Theatre Foundation.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. March 9 at the theater box office, Tickets Unlimited outlets, at 865-656-4444 or tennesseetheatre.com.

Wayne Bledsoe may be reached at 865-342-6444.
