Kenny Chesney is going for a fifth.

If he wins in the Entertainer of the Year race at the Academy of County Music Awards this year, he’ll have his fifth consecutive Entertainer trophy. He’ll tie with the most wins in that category with Alabama. This year's award will be picked through an online vote.

The awards will be broadcast live from Nashville (8 p.m. Sunday, CBS). Reba McEntire will host.

Chesney is up for other honors as well. He’ll be vying for Top Male Vocalist and for Vocal Event of the Year ("Down the Road" with Mac McAnally), for which he can win as a producer and an artist.

Chesney, who was one of the biggest tour acts of any genre in 2008, also will perform.

He’s not the most nominated act. That goes to Brad Paisley, who has six nods. He’s up for Entertainer of the Year, Top Male Vocalist, Single Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Vocal Event of the Year and Video of the Year.

Heidi Newfield, who made a splash with "Johnny & June" in 2008, is also a major nominee, competing in four categories. She’ll be in the Top Female Vocalist category, Single Record of the Year, Video of the Year and Song of the Year (for which she can win as a composer and singer).

Other major nominees include Carrie Underwood, George Strait, Jamey Johnson and Keith Urban.
