Dolly Parton raises $102,000 for Smokies

Dolly Parton, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park's 75th anniversary ambassador, helped raise more than $102,000 for Friends of the Smokies in conjunction with the premiere last week of Dollywood's new musical "Sha-Kon-O-Hey! Land of Blue Smoke," which was preceded by a mini-concert from Parton.

Parton wrote eight original songs specially for the new musical, which will run at Dollywood through Oct. 31; she recorded them onto a CD titled "Sha-Kon-O-Hey!" - with all proceeds benefitting Friends of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

It is available for purchase at Dollywood and online at www.SmokiesStore.org.

Since 1993, the nonprofit Friends of the Smokies group has raised more than $26 million to support park needs.
