NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A concert honoring Kentucky native Keith Whitley will be held in the Nashville Palace over the weekend.

More than a dozen country music and bluegrass performers are scheduled to take the stage Saturday night for the tribute to Whitley, a native of Sandy Hook, Ky., who died in 1989.

The concert was organized by Bonnie Hill, who has an Internet petition calling for Whitley to be inducted into Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame.

Some of the artists include Ralph Stanley II, Randy Korks, Don Rigsby and Mark Newton. A print of Whitley created by artist Corey Frizzell will be auctioned at the event. Part of the proceeds will go to Frizzell's daughter, who has been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia.
