Registration begins today and continues through Sunday for a drawing for the chance to buy tickets to the Nov. 17 advance screening of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," an event that will bring the film's stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner to Knoxville.

The premiere will be at Regal Cinemas' Pinnacle 18 at Turkey Creek and will raise an estimated $400,000-plus for Variety - The Children's Charity of Eastern Tennessee. The event is the latest in Regal-hosted Knoxville film premieres, dating back to 2003, to benefit Variety, an organization that aids local and regional children's charities.

Ticketholders to the "New Moon" event will attend a reception in the theater's lobby that starts at 5:30 p.m., then be there for the red-carpet arrival of Stewart and Lautner and then get to see the movie, a sequel to last year's blockbuster "Twilight."

Some tickets are being distributed to patrons of Variety as well as sponsors of the Nov. 17 event. But 100 tickets, offered in 50 pairs, will be made available to those whose names are pulled in the drawing.

Fans can register for the drawing today through Sunday exclusively at Regal Cinemas locations in Knoxville - Pinnacle Stadium 18, West Town Mall Stadium 9, Riviera Stadium 8, Knoxville Center Stadium 10 and Downtown West 8. Registration will be during regular business hours at the theaters, and registration is not available online.

Those who register must be 18 or older. The drawing will be conducted by Nov. 3, and those whose names are pulled will have the opportunity to buy two general admission tickets for $100 each. When they are notified, they must identify the names of the two fans who will use their tickets. (In other words adults can register, and when their names are pulled, they can assign their tickets to two other recipients, including minors.)

No, you get to "enter your name" for a "CHANCE" to BUY 2 tickets for $200.

Did they somehow think it we will fork over $200 for 2 movie tickets (that will be $8 the next day)if they "promoted" it as a "drawing?"

The people who do this, have more money than they do sense. It's a shame.
