It's well known that alcoholic beverages aren't permitted on the campus of the University of Tennessee, so keep that in mind if you're tailgating on school property.
But if your football Saturdays are spent at home entertaining with friends, here's a selection of cocktail recipes worth considering.
September sunrise
2 ounces 1800 Silver Tequila
4 ounces orange juice
3/4 ounce grenadine
Combine tequila and juice into a cocktail shaker. Shake with ice and strain into rocks glass with ice.
Pour grenadine into the glass, it will naturally sink to the bottom.

Mojito blackberry
1 part blackberry cocktail mix
1 part light rum
2 parts club soda
Mix ingredients together. Serve over ice and garnish with fresh mint, lime and blackberries.

The working-man's margarita
1.5 ounces 1800 Silver Tequila
1/4 ounce pear puree
1/4 ounce fresh lime juice
1/2 ounce triple sec
Combine ingredients and blend with ice, or shake ingredients with ice and serve on the rocks.

Lucky-tini
2 ounces Three-O grape vodka
1 ounce melon liqueur
Splash of pineapple juice
Shake with ice and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with an orange slice.

Tennessee tea
1 part Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey
1 part triple sec
1 part sour mix
2 parts Coca-Cola
Combine ingredients and serve over ice.

Mango Madras
1 1/2 ounces Captain Morgan's Parrot Bay mango-flavored rum
2 ounces cranberry juice
2 ounces orange juice
Mix ingredients together. Shake over ice. Pour into glass.

Irish espresso martini
2 ounces Three-O triple shot espresso vodka
1 ounce Irish cream
1 ounce brewed coffee
Shake with ice and strain into a martini glass

Vanilla Jack
1 part Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey
1/2 part Tuaca
3 parts ginger ale
Splash of triple sec
In a mixing glass filled with ice, add ingredients. Roll contents, but do not shake. Pour into a highball glass. Add a cherry.

Peach punch
1/3 ounce Captain Morgan original spiced rum
1/2 ounce peach schnapps
2 ounces pina colada mix
4 ounces orange juice
Blend with crushed ice until frozen. Garnish with fresh peach.

Sassy sangria spritzer
1 bottle of reasonably good red or white wine
Fruit such as any citrus, plums, pears, peaches and apples, cut into slices
2 liter bottles of club soda, or citrus-flavored seltzer
A few hours before serving, fill 2 pitchers with sliced fruit. Add half a bottle of wine to each pitcher.
Muddle fruit with a wooden spoon to distribute the fruity flavors all through the wine. Set aside.
Just before serving, top off each pitcher with the club soda. Scoop a little of the sliced fruit into each ice-filled glass before pouring. Yield: 4-6 servings.
