Knoxville resident Ashley Johnston has been picked as a contestant on an edition of NBC's "The Biggest Loser," to air in early 2010.

The producers probably had their share of contestants to pick from in Knoxville.... Sorry, I went there.
I'd say if they ever start "America's Biggest Smoker" we've also got a strong possibility of placing someone on the show.

agreed...The first thing I noticed on my visit to Knoxville last month was the high percent of morbidly obese people and it would appear 8 out of 10 people smoke…the ICU at Fort Sanders was full of C.O.P.D. patience, my late father being one of them

Just curious...did you have ignorant, abusive parents who made fun of you or others? Its always interesting to find out how adults become as pathetic as your statement indicates.

Never claimed to be perfect, but since I put some energy and effort into taking care of myself... that's fine, I'll go as Mr. Perfect.
A lot of people make excuses for a lot of people who have many medical conditions as the result of obesity or bad habits such as drinking or smoking. I applaud the Knoxville woman who will be on the show and wish her the best in gaining control of her weight and life.
Still not surprised to see someone from Knoxville on the show... Improved education on exercise and diet is drastically needed in this area. No reason to be defensive about living in a fat city...

I'm with you guys. Personally I'm in favor of removing health care coverage for the fat chain smoking portion of the population. At the very least, make them have their own special providers - no sense subsidizing the maintenance of their own bodies that they are trying to destroy themselves.
That being said - I wish the best for the contestants. Win or not, its got to be nice to buy a few more years that can be spent w/ the family.

Aww...too small a set to not show who you are??? Tsk-Tsk...
