Morrow: Visiting Palin makes splash

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin wasn't the only star to shine around here this past week.

Her daughter Bristol Palin stayed in Knoxville for three days - one of which was when she testified in federal court about an e-mail snooping case. But after all that business concluded, she let loose around town.

She dined at Panera and The Crown & Goose. On Thursday night, she was spotted on Market Square during Sundown in the City.

Palin stayed in town a few extra days so she could meet up with her mother, who testified in the same case on Friday.

The two left town on Friday.

"I saw her at Sundown in the City," said Jeff Dealejandro, a partner in The Crown & Goose. "She was wearing tight work-out pants.

"Man, she's beautiful. I told my wife, 'She's really pretty.'

"There were a lot of people around her. There were a lot of people around her taking pictures."

Bristol Palin, whose infamous pregnancy at age 17 spurred a national dialogue on teens and sexuality, was not spotted with her baby.

The Palins testified in a case centering on a former University of Tennessee student accused of illegally accessing Sarah Palin's private e-mail account.

In her testimony, Bristol Palin said she was frightened when she began receiving numerous long-distance phone calls, a result of her cell phone number being posted on several Internet websites.

Reports of other celebrity sightings turned out not to be so true.

Web stories claiming John Oliver of "The Daily Show" was in Knoxville to cover the Palins turned out to be false.

A Comedy Central spokesperson confirmed Friday that neither Oliver nor the show covered the Palin case.

Pop culture news show "Extra" was present at the courthouse for coverage.

Sarah who?

C'mon people. The line "Pop culture news show "Extra" was present" should be enough said.
