KNOXVILLE — It’s 9:30 a.m. in the morning and I’m afraid that I’ve woken Dan Zanes up. His voice is a little "croaky," however he admits that he’s been up since about 6:30 a.m. that morning. Why so early? To indulge a pal who felt like some spontaneous trampoline bouncing on another friend’s trampoline, of course.
It’s that "why not" attitude that had the singer/musician sifting through hundreds of timeless songs owned by Sir Paul McCartney’s MPL Music Publishing Catalog. Representatives from MPL had approached the well known, Grammy-winning band to see if they wanted to record an album that was a re-imagining of their vast collection of Broadway show tunes.
