The 2010 Bonnaroo artists themselves are using social media to announce their participation in the 2010 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. By 10 a.m. Weezer, Blues Traveler, the Flaming Lips and Phoenix had already used outlets to confirm their participation in the event. The Dave Matthews Band was the first headliner to announce a Bonnaroo 2010 show. Announcements were made through Twitter, Facebook and other social media outlets. The Avett Brothers made a stop action video for the band's MySpace page which ended with band member Scott Avett painting the news on a wall. In addition, the official Bonnaroo Twitter has been giving hints about artists, including a Tweet that seems to indicate Jeff Beck as a participant. Rumors circulated two weeks ago listed likely headliners including Matthews, Kings of Leon, Jay-Z and Stevie Wonder.
The official Bonnaroo MySpace site began listing confirmed acts at noon — the same time tickets went on sale at www.bonnaroo.com. A limited number of tickets were sold in December well before any act had announced participation.
This News Sentinel page will be regularly updated as artists make their announcements. A final full list of confirmed acts will be available here at 9 p.m.
The 2010 Bonnaroo festival will be held June 10-13 on the same 700-acre site in Manchester, Tenn., where it was first held in 2002.
