KNOXVILLE — We compare two pop-culture subjects to see which you like better. To be included in next week’s tally, vote for your favorite before noon on Monday. This week’s match:
SUE SYLVESTER vs. MR. SCHUESTER (of “Glee”)
These two teachers have been butting heads since the beginning of Fox’s “Glee.” Sue is a hard-headed, take-no-prisoners type who runs the cheerleading squad. She gets results despite her methods. Mr. Schuester is a nice, clean-cut head of the glee club. He cares for his students and loves his job — except when Sue tries to put her nose in his business.
WHAT MOTIVATES THEM
Sue: If her cheerleaders (aka her “cheerios”) succeed, it makes Sue look great.
Schuester: Wants only the best for his glee club singers.
WHAT THEY SHARE WITH NO ONE ELSE
Sue: “Dear Journal, Feeling listless again today. It began at dawn, when I tried to make a smoothie out of beef bones, breaking my juicer.”
Schuester: “My father always said you become a man when you buy your first house. I’m not sure what he meant by that since he burned ours down once after a drunken fight with mom.”
PEOPLE PERSON?
Sue: “I will go to the animal shelter and get you a kitty cat. I will let you fall in love with that kitty cat. And then on some dark cold night, I will steal away into your home, and punch you in the face.”
Schuester: “I don’t like the way she’s looking at me. Ah! I shouldn’t have sung this song to her!”
LOVE MAKES THE WORLD GO AROUND
Sue: “I, for one, think intimacy has no place in marriage.”
Schuester: “I loved what I was doing. I knew before we were halfway through with it, I remember that we were gonna win. And being a part of that, in that moment, I knew who I was in the world. And the only time I felt that way since then was when Terrie told me I was gonna be a father.”
LAST WEEK: JACK VS. SAWYER (“LOST”)
Our pick: Sawyer. We like that Knoxville connection.
Your pick: Sawyer snagged 58 percent of your vote.
