Chef Karen Crumley will present the following sushi-making classes at Avanti Savoia, 7610 Maynardville Highway.
“Rollin, rollin, rollin,” (7-9 p.m.,July 22): Learn to prepare spicy tuna rolls, Philly rolls and tofu rolls.
“Sashimi and Nigiri,” (7-9 p.m., Aug. 3): Instruction on preparing nigiri featuring eel, tuna, flounder and escolar.
“Slicing and cutting fish,” (7-9 p.m., Aug. 19): Knife skills and procedures needed to prepare sushi and nigiri using salmon, pompano and red snapper.
“The egg and you in sushi cuisine,” (7-9 p.m., Aug. 24): A discussion on the use of eggs and fish roe in sushi cuisine.
Two bamboo rolling matts and a long straight-edged sharp knife is required. Cost is $75 per class and guests may bring their own wine or beer.
