SAFE HAVEN SATURDAY

Local musicians will perform in a benefit concert for the Safe Haven Center 2 p.m.-2 a.m. Saturday, July 17, at the Relix Variety Theatre, 1208 N. Central St. in the "Happy Holler" neighborhood.

Performers will include Mike McGill and Axis of Evil, Kevin Abernathy, Geysers of Phenomenon, Amythyst, Dave Owen, Good Company, Jeremy Cate and more.

Admission is $10 in general, free for children ages 11 and younger.

FUTURE ISLANDS

Minimalist synthesizer-pop bands Future Islands, from Baltimore, Md., and Ear PWR, from Asheville, N.C., will entertain at 10 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at Pilot Light, 106 E. Jackson Ave.

TESS & DEHLIA

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Miss Tess and Asheville, N.C., bluegrass band Dehlia Low will entertain noon-1 p.m. Monday, July 19, during the WDVX Blue Plate Special at the Knoxville Visitors Center, 301 S. Gay St.

Admission is free. The concert will be broadcast live on WDVX 89.9 and 102.9 FM.

LEO & LAUREN

Acoustic singer-songwriter duo Leo & Lauren (Knoxville singer-guitarist Kevin Leo Hyfantis and Nashville vocalist Andrea Lauren Presley) met while helping out with another artist's album. They decided that they liked the way their voices blended, so they got together to make their own tunes. The pair will perform 11 a.m.-noon Tuesday, July 20, during the Knox Ivi 11 O'Clock Rock show at 17 Market Square. Admission is free. The performance will be streamed online at www.knoxivi.com.

Low-key pop-rock band Cowboy Junkies will entertain in two separate - and very different - performances around town on Thursday, July 22.

Singer Margo Timmins and guitarist Michael Timmins will perform as a duo at 1 p.m. at Disc Exchange, 2615 Chapman Highway. Admission is free.

'RAMONA & BEEZUS'

Angelina Jolie, left, plays a CIA officer accused of being involved in dangerous double-agent spy stuff in the new action film "Salt." The film opens Friday, July 23, in area theaters. The cast of the PG-13-rated adventure also includes Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

AQUAPALOOZA

Kitty Wampus, Doug Shock, Frankenfoot and other "special guests" will entertain during "Aquapalooza" 4-9 p.m. Saturday, July 24, at The Cove of Concord Park, S. Northshore Drive in Farragut. Admission is free.

Sponsored by Sea Ray Boats, the concert is designed to be enjoyed from the water, but there will be a bit of viewing space on land as well. Those attending by boat should register at www.aquapalooza.com.
