Though Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” was knocked out of the top spot of the Hot 100 this week, it maintains a comfortable lead atop Billboard’s Summer Songs 2010 tally, as its six weeks at No. 1 on the big chart fell within the summer tracking period.
Meanwhile, this week’s new Hot 100 No. 1 — “Love the Way You Lie,” by Eminem featuring Rihanna — enters the Summer Songs top 10 all the way at No. 5, bumping his own “Not Afraid” out of the recap.
For the first time, Billboard has been running a weekly chart updating the race for the Summer Song of the year, based on Hot 100 performance from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
