Hankering for some live Shakespeare?

Looking for something different this weekend? Something culturally stimulating?

Try "Shakespeare on the Square" on Market Square in downtown Knoxville, which through mid-August will be alternating performances of "Romeo and Juliet" and "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)."

Performances are Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. There's no admission charge, but a donation basket will be passed. Suggested minimum donation is $5.

And you've got choices. On Sunday, try Shakespeare's well-known "Romeo and Juliet," the timeless tragedy. Or tonight, "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)," a 90-minute parody romp through 36 Shakespeare plays.

These performances are a great opportunity to experience something different downtown. There is so much happening here. I have a blog about daily life in downtown. If you are interested in reading more about that, you might want to check it out at http://www.stuckinsideofknoxville.com

I have been going forever. Liked it better at the World's Fair Park. It kept you out of the direct afternoon sun.
I bring a blanket, picnic basket, my dog and a bottle of wine and kick back, relax and enjoy the play.
