Musician and historian Elijah Wald will discuss "The Blues: Roots and Branches" at 7 p.m. at the East Tennessee History Center, 601 S. Gay St.
Wald's presentation explores blues music in relation to other styles, examining connections to early 20th century genres like gospel, string bands and jazz, plus the influence of blues on later pop and rock.
