EXPLORE THE BLUES

Musician and historian Elijah Wald will discuss "The Blues: Roots and Branches" at 7 p.m. at the East Tennessee History Center, 601 S. Gay St.

Wald's presentation explores blues music in relation to other styles, examining connections to early 20th century genres like gospel, string bands and jazz, plus the influence of blues on later pop and rock.

America's favorite animated toys are back for another adventure in "Toy Story 3."

This time, Jessie, Buzz, Woody (voices of Joan Cusack, Tim Allen and Tom Hanks respectively) and their playroom pals are shipped off to a day-care center after their owner, Andy, departs for college. Soon enough, though, they realize they need to get back to Andy. The film is rated G.
