Manchester, Tenn. — Nashville’s own Kings of Leon became the first band to graduate from one of Bonnaroo’s tents to a headlining slot on the festival’s biggest stage.
It’s an inspiring feat, but as a result, the Tennessee boys felt more like family on the What Stage Friday night than, say, another globally famous headliner that everyone’s thrilled to see for the first time. They received a warm and familiar welcoming from their audience, and following a handful of tunes from recent albums Because of the Times and Only By the Night, dove right into the new material they’ve been cooking up in New York City for album No. 5.
