Bonnaroo’s Other Tent transformed into a venue for Latin Electronica, rock, hip hop, salsa and fusion on Saturday. Bands from Mexico, South America and the U.S. played from noon until 8:30 p.m., creating a temperature spike on top of the blazing heat.

The set opened with Colombia’s Bomba Estereo, self-described as “electro-tropical.” Fronted by female rapper, Simón Mejía, the band had this gal feeling tropical island-meets-late-night dance club. Electronic dance trio, Mexican Institute of Sound, followed with an exciting set of sweat-provoking dance beats.

The stage was hosted and headlined by Bonnaroo veterans Ozomatli and included performances by Colombian male-female rock duo Aterciopelados, Venezuelan dance band Los Amigo Invisibles, and Tijuana’s The Nortec Collective presents: Bostich + Fussible.

Though the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival isn’t known for their Latin acts, this lineup was embraced by near-by vendors seen dancing in their booths, as well as the concert-goers who packed the tent in mid-90 temperatures.
