NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Ryman Auditorium doesn’t tend to shy from genre blending: Indie-rock phenoms Vampire Weekend and ‘Hillbilly Bone” singer/Twitter tornado Blake Shelton are currently scheduled to take its stage about two weeks apart.
And on Tuesday night, the stage hosted a taping of CMT Crossroads featuring top country touring draw Kenny Chesney and rock hit machine Steve Miller Band.
During the almost-two-hour taping, Miller said he knew exactly who he wanted to call about sharing the bill as soon as he signed on for the show: friend Chesney, who has a habit of performing Miller’s “The Joker” during his concerts and to whom Miller has passed down guitars.
