Singer Didi Benami of Knoxville has moved to "American Idol's" top 16.

After her emotional reaction to harsh judges' comments about her performance on Wednesday, she probably assumed she'd be gone tonight. Looking sad as she stood to hear if she was eliminated, Benami managed to flash a brief smile at the judges.

Her next time in front of the judges will be Tuesday night.

Benami is a graduate of West High School and a former student at Bearden Middle and Rocky Hill. She now lives in Los Angeles, where she works as a waitress.
