Knoxville's Sherry Johnston and daughter Ashley Johnston faced a challenge of a different sort on the latest episode of NBC's weight-loss reality show "The Biggest Loser" when they had to bid farewell to one of their own.

Their teammate Cheryl was eliminated from the competition, which proved especially tough on Sherry as the two women had formed a strong bond in their eight weeks together on the ranch.

Harder still, Ashley cast a vote for Cheryl's exit, but not out of malice. Ashley said of all the black team members, she was most confident that Cheryl could continue her progress away from the ranch.

On a brighter note, both Sherry and Ashley had their own shining moments at the weekly weigh-in challenge.

Sherry had the highest percentage of weight loss for the week, giving her immunity from the elimination vote. Sherry lost five pounds for the week, bringing her weight to 166.

Ashley went from 301 pounds to 293 at the weigh in, dropping eight pounds. "This is the first time I've been under 300 pounds in 12 years," Ashley said. Host Allison Sweeney noted that Ashley has lost 81 pounds in eight weeks, an achievement for which she should be proud.

During the weigh in, trainer Jillian Michaels noted that with increasing weight loss, the players won't be posting big numbers like they did in the beginning.

But the episode also helped to show the teams that exercise can be accomplished in the "real world." The episode centered on "Work Week," where the players had to work eight-hour shifts at the nonprofit food bank Feeding America, and fit their workouts in when they could. At the weigh in, many of the contestants acknowledged that, yes, working a job and finding the time to work out can be done.
