— The popular locally produced “Heartland Series” will be revived for four special episodes to air throughout the year, according to the WBIR-TV, Channel 10, Web site.

Host Bill Landry will be joined by veterans of the “Heartland” crew to create the new series, including videographer Doug Mills, producer Steve Dean and editor Sam Moore.

The first episode, titled “The Ways of Winter,” will be broadcast in high definition at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 27. The program will show how winter activities have changed in East Tennessee over time.

This is welcome news. I too feel like an old friend is coming home. I have lived here all my life and the Heartland Series is one of the all time best programs to ever hit the local tv channel.

Too bad Popcorn Sutton is no longer with us. He would have made a great Heartland Series story.
