TALES TOLD
Today is World Storytelling Day, a day on which tale-tellers around the glove spin yarns. (This does not mean fibbing to your mother.) It could mean a visit to the new Clayton Center for the Arts on the Maryville College campus. Area storytellers will use words and imagination in the tales they tell at 7:30 p.m. today at the center. Tickets are $5 at the center box office.
NATIVE FESTIVAL
The Sam Houston School House, 3650 Old Sam Houston School House Road in Maryville, is the site for today's Nativefest. The festival celebrating American Indian culture is 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; admission is $3. Events include storytelling, dancing, a blowgun competition, and demonstrations of archery and open-fire cooking. Proceeds help fund the October Spirit of Nations Powwow at Knoxville's Chilhowee Park.
MUSIC, PLEASE
Guest pianist Adam Golka will perform with The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra at 8 p.m March 25 and 26 at the Tennessee Theatre, 604 S. Gay St. Tickets range from $21 to $83 for adults. Student tickets are $10. Tickets are available at Tickets Unlimited outlets, 865-656-444, or www.knoxvilletickets.com. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring canned or dry packed food for the Orchestras Feeding America project.
YO GABBA GABBA!
The friendly toy monsters Brobee and Plex from the Nick Jr. show "Yo Gabba Gabba!" (the yellow and green pair in the foreground of the photo above) visit the Knoxville Zoo 10 a.m.-2 p.m. March 27. Bring your cameras; they're posing for photographs. Zoo visitors can meet these characters of the preschooler set with regular zoo admission. That admission is $16.95 for adults, $12.95 for children ages 2-12 or senior citizens 65 and older; free for children younger than 2. Parking is $5 a vehicle. The zoo is off Interstate 40's Exit 392.
