Maybe Johnny Knoxville needs to brush up on his hometown. Or maybe he should visit more often.

While appearing on the Hallmark Channel’s “The Martha Stewart Show” Tuesday, the actor formerly known as PJ Clapp of South Knoxville was quizzed by Ms. Martha about his knowledge of his hometown. To be fair, they were tough questions.

But he still didn’t know the answers.

Martha: More of this animal have been born, or has been born, in the Knoxville Zoo more than any other zoo in the Western Hemisphere.

Johnny: Oh my goodness, uh, black bears?

Martha: No.

Johnny: What?

Martha: Red pandas.

Johnny: I did not know that.

Martha: Red, very cute. Look, look! (Shows picture) Those cute little red pandas.

Johnny: I thought it would be something else.

Martha: OK, one down. It is illegal to lasso this animal or thing in Knoxville. It’s illegal.

Johnny: Red pandas!

Martha: (laughs) That’s a good answer. No, fish.

Johnny: (laughs) And hard!

Martha: In 1974, Walter Cronkite designated Knoxville as the what capital of the world?

Johnny: Oh man. Moonshine? No? Zero for three?

Martha: This is your hometown!

Johnny: I know.

Martha: Streaking capital because 5,000 people streaked in downtown Knoxville. So now you know where Johnny comes from.

All was forgiven and the two mavens of the kitchen made pumpkin-seed brittle together. Not sure if Knoxville can cook, but he faked it well enough on TV.

To be fair, if Martha had asked him where to get the best moonshine or where to purchase the best iced tea on Western Avenue, he’d have known the answers.

GUEST SPOT. How did ex-Vols quarterback Erik Ainge end up in “Jackass 3D”?

“I knew Erik through Alan Fry (owner of) The Vol Market,” says Johnny Knoxville. “He hung out at the market I guess, and I got to know him that way.”

Knoxville actually used Ainge for “Jackass Number 2” but the footage failed to make the final cut. When the third film was being mulled, Knoxville wanted Ainge to be part of it.

“He’s a sweet, sweet guy, a big dude,” Knoxville says.

In the film, Knoxville gets sacked more than once for a sequence involving Ainge.
