MAYFIELD CORN MAZE

The 10th annual Mayfield Corn Maze will run from Sept. 17-Nov. 7 at the Mayfield Farm in Athens, Tenn.

The 2010 design, below, celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts. Admission is $8 in general, $6 per person for groups of 20 or more and free for ages 2 and younger.

DAVE DYKES & THE GRATEFUL HEARTS

Americana-rock band Dave Dykes & The Grateful Hearts will celebrate the release of a new EP of songs at 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at Preservation Pub, 28 Market Square.

CHARLIE DANIELS BAND

The Charlie Daniels Band will entertain at 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Homer Hamilton Theater at Chilhowee Park to close out the final day of the Tennessee Valley Fair.

Anne Allison and Kathy Sherrard of Appalachian Bear Rescue will present the program "You and I: Coexisting with Black Bears" at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at the Blount County Public Library, 508 N. Cusick St.

The talk will offer information about bears and safety precautions to take when hiking in bear habitats. Admission is free.

MIDWEEK ROCK 'N' ROLL

'SAFETY GOGGLES AND SHARP TEETH'

'YOU AGAIN'

Kristen Bell, left, plays Marni, a successful PR professional who travels home for her brother's wedding and discovers that the bride (Odette Yustman) is a girl who used to bully her in high school. Meanwhile, Marni's mom (Jamie Lee Curtis) recognizes the bride's jet-setting aunt (Sigourney Weaver) as her own high school rival. The cast includes Kristin Chenoweth and Betty White. The film is rated PG for mild language and rude behavior.

'LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS'

A young owl escapes the unsavory owl-military academy to track down potential saviors for his owl society in the animated adventure "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole."

The PG-rated film features the voices of Jim Sturgess, Hugo Weaving, Ryan Kwanten, Abbie Cornish and Helen Mirren. It is scheduled to open Friday, Sept. 24.

'VINTAGE VIEWS'

Film clips from home movie collections will be screened during the second annual "Vintage Views of Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains" film day at the Gatlinburg Inn, 755 Parkway in Gatlinburg. A reception will begin at 5 p.m., featuring Smoky Mountain history writers Greg Johnson, J.C. & Margaret McCaulie, Butch McDade, Billie Noland and Melba Moore. The film screening will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, in the inn's John Sevier Room. Tickets are $10 at the door, with reservations required. Call 865-436-0500 to reserve your seat.
