The Three Rivers Rambler will offer its Holiday Express excursion train ride at 10:30 a.m. and 2 and 5 p.m. Saturdays; 1 and 4 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 18.

Kathryn Calder
Canadian indie-rock singer-pianist Kathryn Calder, hiding her face below, previously played with the group Immaculate Machine and can often be found touring with The New Pornographers.
But she also gets out and does her own thing. Calder will perform along with Himalayan Bear at 9:30 p.m. at Pilot Light, 106 E. Jackson Ave.

The Civil Wars
Folk-Americana duo The Civil Wars will entertain at 8 p.m. at the Bijou Theatre, 803 S. Gay St.
This sold-out performance was originally scheduled for October.

Mandy Barnett
Country singer Mandy Barnett, a Crossville native known for her starring performance in "Always, ... Patsy Cline," will entertain during the WDVX Blue Plate Special at the Knoxville Visitors Center, 301 S. Gay St.

Adam Klein
Athens, Ga., Americana singer-songwriter Adam Klein, below, and his band The Wildfires will entertain 8-10 p.m. at Preservation Pub, 28 Market Square.

'Modern Dance Primitive Light'
Circle Modern Dance will present its annual "Modern Dance Primitive Light" performance at 8 p.m. at the Laurel Theater, 1538 Laurel Ave. at 16th Street.
The show offers modern dance and live music in the intimate, candlelight setting of the historic Laurel Theater. Cost is $8.50-$15. Performances will also be at 7 and 9 p.m. Dec. 16-17.

'Sherlock Holmes'
Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law return as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, in the new film adventure "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows."
Noomi Rapace, center below, joins the cast as the mysterious Madam Simza as the detectives hunt for the villainous Moriarty (Jared Harris).
The returning cast of the PG-13-rated film also includes Rachel McAdams.
