No New Year's Eve ideas? Check these out

Here are just a few ways to ring in the New Year on Saturday.

First Night Knoxville is an alcohol-free, family friendly series of events in downtown Knoxville. There will be an array of musicians, storytellers, circus acts, artists, dance groups and comedy. The event begins at 3 p.m. with a Children's Festival at the East Tennessee History Center, and ends with a traditional countdown to midnight, ball drop and fireworks.

Admission buttons are $15 in advance, or $20 on Saturday. They are available at several Market Square District businesses, Pilot locations and online at http://www.firstnightknoxville.com, where a schedule of events may be found.

The Tennessee Theatre is the venue for the V-Roys' reunion concert. Their last concert together was at the same location on New Year's Eve 1999. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets ($35) are available at the Tennessee Theatre box office. For a detailed story about the band's reunion, check the entertainment section of today's News Sentinel, or visit http://www.knoxville.com.

n If you feel the need for a road trip, think about Gatlinburg. It will host a New Year's Eve Ball Drop and Fireworks Show. There will be musical entertainment on the balcony of the Gatlinburg Convention Center. For information, call the Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce at 800-568-4748, or visit http://www.gatlinburg.com.
