Kristen Stewart is in negotiations to star in "Snow White and the Huntsman," joining Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron in Universal's take on the fairy tale.
A number of actresses tested for the role but Universal seemed determined to land the "Twilight" star. Stewart was still being courted as late as last week, and Universal finally made an offer over the weekend.
Commercial director Rupert Sanders is making his feature debut on the picture.
In the new version, Snow White is banished and on the run from the evil queen (Theron). The Huntsman (Mortensen) takes her under his wing to protect her, and she becomes his protege, learning how to fight and defend herself.
