Chamber Orchestra plays opera music
The Knoxville Symphony Chamber Orchestra, led by music director Lucas Richman, performs opera music for its 2:30 p.m. March 6 Chamber Classics concert at the Bijou Theatre, 803 S. Gay St.
Soprano Katy Williams and baritone Kevin Richard Doherty will perform music by Rossini, Mozart and Paisiello. The second half of the concert will include the premiere of Richman's Salutation No. 8.

Art Market Gallery shows new works
New art is on exhibit starting March 1 at the Art Market Gallery of Knoxville, 422 S. Gay St.
Shown will be jewelry by Sissy Caldwell of Maryville and paintings by Gary Dagnan of Knoxville. Caldwell uses bead-weaving styles and malleable precious metal clay to create her jewelry. Dagnan is a landscape painter who works in watercolor, oils and acrylic.
A 5:30-9 p.m. March 4 reception is planned at the gallery.Hours are 11 a.m.-6 -p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
The gallery is owned and operated by more than 60 regional artists.
Pigeon Forge theater to end 'Miracle'
The Miracle Theater in Pigeon Forge has announced its final season. The theater will reopen in the fall as the Smoky Mountain Opry.
The theater's "The Miracle Show" starts its sixth season on March 19 and will end Oct. 22. The theater's production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" starts its second and final season March 12. That production ends Oct. 26.
The theater, part of the Fee/Hedrick Family Entertainment Group in Pigeon Forge, reopen as The Smoky Mountain Opry Theater Nov. 7 with a "Christmas at the Opry" show.
'Yes Men' duo comes to UT
The duo Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonnano known as "The Yes Men" will be at the University of Tennessee on March 10.
The Yes Men are known as media activists who often pose as corporate or governmental spokesmen and use satire to comment on the organizations' ideologies. Their ruses sometimes use elaborate props as they did in their 2009 film "The Yes Men Fix the World."
The Yes Men will present a 2-4 p.m. March 10 "pranking workshop" at UT's University Center Shiloh Room and a 7 p.m. presentation at Alumni Memorial Building's Cox Auditorium. A showing of their documentary "The Yes Men Fix the World" will be 7 p.m. March 7 at the University Center Crest Room.
Art inspires concert by Momentum Dance Lab
The Momentum Dance Lab presents "Art Moves" 2 p.m. March 12 and March 13 at the Knoxville Museum of Art, 1050 World's Fair Park Drive.
"Art Moves" is a performance of original music and dance created by local composers and choreographers and inspired by the art in the art museum's permanent collection and current exhibits.
Advance tickets at http://www.momentumdancelab.com, are $12 for adults, $8 for students. Tickets at the door are $15 and $10. Children under 5 are admitted free.
The dance company is also offering a limited number of one-cent tickets for Knox County students at the door through the Arts & Culture Alliance's Penny for the Arts program. For information about that program, see the dance lab's website or www.http://www.penny4arts.com.
During Art Moves, dancers will perform choreographed pieces in spots throughout the museum. Dances and musicians will also improvise during the performances. Four dances will be performed in the museum auditorium and will be accompanied by video showing images of the artwork that inspired the performance.
Shakespeare comedy at Clayton Center
A touring production of William Shakespeare's "The Comedy of Errors" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. March 9 at The Clayton Center for the Arts.
The play is done by actors with the New York-based The Acting Company. Tickets are $24 or $18 for adults, $18 or $14 for senior citizens or students and at the Clayton Center box office, 865-981-8590. The performance will be in the center's Ronald and Lynda Nutt Theatre.
Civil War stamp show set for March 5-6
The Knoxville Philatelic Society will host its annual stamp show, Knoxpex 2011, on March 5-6 at the Holiday Inn West. Show hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday with a live auction at 6 Saturday night. Admission and parking are free.
The show will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Knoxville Confederate postal issues produced in the summer of 1861 between the time of cessation of Union postal services and the arrival of Confederate States general issue stamps. Knoxville postmaster, C.H. Charlton, was responsible for the production of 10 recognized major varieties of adhesive stamps, printed envelopes, and hand-stamped envelopes, the greatest variety of any Confederate city. A cachet envelope will be on sale at the show.
A special postal cancel will be available, which includes a design modified from the 5-cent and 10-cent hand-stamped envelopes.
