PIGEON FORGE — Dolly Parton surprised two Pigeon Forge fans Tuesday by showing up on their doorstep for the new TLC collectibles show “My Collection Obsession.”
Fans Patrick Parkey and Harrell Gabehart knew the TLC cameras would tape an episode of “Obsession” at their house to get footage of their massive Parton collectibles — everything from an old Christmas tree to an old car title she and her husband, Carl Dean, used to own. They had no idea, however, that Parton would show up with the crew to inspect what the men had in their possession.
“It was all over their house — their kitchen, their bathroom, everywhere,” Parton said. “I couldn’t believe everything they had (collected).”
Parton said the sight of seeing all her old possessions didn’t bother her. She was honored and astonished, though.
The superstar had heard the fans would be profiled on “Obsession,” which is scheduled to premiere in the fall. So she decided she’d like to see for herself what they had.
“It was all a lot of fun,” she said of the experience.
An air date for Parton’s episode has not been announced yet.
