KNOXVILLE - A music festival that was scheduled to be part of Boomsday in September has been postponed until next year because of a change in concert promoters, according to the Knoxville Tourism and Sports Corp.
Boom in the Park Music Festival will now be held September 2012.
"With (Boomsday) being less than three months away, that is a short time frame to book great talent," said Kim Davis, communications manager for the Sports Corp. "A lot of times, that's done nine to 12 months ahead of time."
The concert cancellation does not impact the annual fireworks show. Boomsday, a Sept. 4 event that will include festivities for families, will culminate that night with the huge fireworks display.
More details as they develop online and in Thursday's News Sentinel.

The Knoxville Tourism Board always estimates that 500,000 are in attendeance, yet 102,000 at Neyland stadium can never find a place to park. I figured at the Industry standard of 2.2 per car that you could park cars from Knoxville till Searcy Ark end to end just to see the event.. if it's 500,000.
Have you ever seen 500,000 with a place to park in Knoxville for Vols game??? Of oourse not, they're full of phooey..

We have more than enough local talent to entertain Boomsday attendees. If you set up stages, they will come. Let WDVX be the signer-upper...

Ain't that the truth. WUTK is spitting distance away and has access to plenty of talent. WDVX could go over the top. Nashville is 2 hours away and we can't organize a music line up for a 500,000 person venue?
