Local bands plan benefit gig for Red Cross at Preservation Pub

Multiple Knoxville bands will perform a fundraiser concert on Tuesday at Preservation Pub on Market Square, with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross. Admission is $3.

Plainclothes Tracy, an "artsy-indie rock" band made up of University of Tennessee students, will be one of the bands playing at "Songwriters for Storm Relief."

Pete Stein, Roman Reese and Sydney Grigg & Friends also will perform at the fundraiser.

"We don't have much else to contribute at this time in our lives, but the one thing that we can do is play music for free," said Plainclothes Tracy's vocalist/guitarist Kym Hawkins, a UT creative writing major.

"It's a win-win situation, because we're doing the thing we love to do the most to supply a need in the community."

The band has played several benefits, including Pellissippi State's Hearts for Haiti benefit last year.
