Friday, Oct. 7: 'Tartuffe'

Moliere's comedy "Tartuffe," will be presented through Oct. 23 in the Lab Theatre of the Clarence Brown Theatre on the University of Tennessee campus. In the play, scheming Tartuffe (Conrad Ricamore) gains influence over the wealthy Orgon (Erik Hoffman). Cost is $15 for adults, $12 for students and $5 for UT students. Friday, Oct. 7: J Roddy Walston & The Business

Singer and piano player J Roddy Walston left Cleveland, Tenn., for Baltimore, Md., and put together a high-energy rock 'n' roll ensemble, The Business. The group will entertain during "Funhouse Live" at 10 p.m. at Barley's Taproom & Pizzeria, 200 E. Jackson Ave. Admission is $5.

Saturday, Oct. 8: Hilltop Dinner & Dance

The second annual Hilltop Dinner & Dance will feature entertainment by square dance caller Allison Williams, Ian Thomas, JP Harris & the Tough Choices and Christabel & the Jons at 3 p.m. at the Mabry-Hazen House, 1711 Dandridge Ave.

Friday, Oct. 14: Get 'Footloose' again

A relatively unknown dancer becomes Kevin Bacon and Dennis Quaid becomes John Lithgow in a musical reinvisioning of the 1984 film "Footloose." Kenny Wormald dances a jig into the role made famous by Bacon, trying to inspire a dance revolution in a town ruled by a feisty reverend (Lithgow in the original, Quaid in the new version). The cast includes Julianne Hough and Andie MacDowell.

Saturday, Oct. 15: Lydia Loveless

Lydia Loveless, left, belts out her own brand of Americana with a classic honky-tonk swagger. Citing influences ranging from Charles Bukowski to Britney Spears, she writes wry tunes such as "Steve Earle," in which she begs the veteran troubadour to introduce her to his son. Her latest album is "Indestructible Machine" on Bloodshot Records.

Loveless will entertain at 10 p.m. at Boyd's Jig & Reel, 101 S. Central St. Admission is free.

Sunday, Oct. 16: Bela Fleck and the Flecktones

Musical genres bend and fuse in the hands of Bela Fleck & The Flecktones.

The group's original lineup — banjo master Bela Fleck, pianist/harmonica player Howard Levy, bassist Victor Wooten and percussionist Roy "Futureman" Wooten — is on deck for a concert at 8 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre, 604 S. Gay St.
