Friday, Sept. 2: Dirty Guv'nahs and the Commonwealth

Knoxville rock band The Dirty Guv'nahs, left, will take to the stage with Scott Miller and the Commonwealth at 8 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre, 604 S. Gay St.

Monday, Sept. 5: Blue Plate Special

Acoustic-music fans can start the week off with folk and jugband tunes from some local musicians. The Knox County Jug Stompers and The Shaky Show will perform noon-1 p.m. during the WDVX Blue Plate Special at the Knoxville Visitors Center, 301 S. Roger Stephens was the director of the University School of Music until passing away this past February. 'Attack the Block'

A gang of tough inner-city kids in London turn from a life of crime to become heroes to repel an invasion of savage alien creatures in the science-fiction film "Attack the Block." The cast of the R-rate adventure includes Jodie Whittaker, John Boyega and Nick Frost.

'Bucky Larson'

Bucky Larson (Nick Swardson) is a grocery bagger in a small town in the new film "Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star." When he discovers that his parents were once adult film stars, he heads for Los Angeles to continue the family legacy. The cast of the R-rated comedy also includes Christina Ricci, Don Johnson and Stephen Dorff.

Saturday, Sept. 10: Atomic Horns

The Atomic Horns is a 10-piece show band that plays a repertoire of rock, soul, rhythm and blues styles. The group will entertain 6-8 p.m. at The Cove at Concord Park, 11808 S. Northshore Drive in west Knox County.

Sunday, Sept. 11: 'Immersed in Color'

New York artist Sanford Wurmfeld will present a cyclorama-style installation in an exhibit titled "Immersed in Color" Sept. 11-Oct. 27 in the Ewing Gallery in the University of Tennessee Art & Architecture BUilding, 1715 Volunteer Blvd. on the UT campus.
