BEVERLY HILLS — It was a night of too few stars, but the ones who did attend the 28th annual Television Critics Association Awards shined bright.

Bryan Cranston of "Breaking Bad" was host of the ceremony and wowed the crowd with his hilarious monologue, which he wrote himself. All I can reveal is that he did walk out on stage with his pants unzipped and a $20 bill sticking out of it.

Claire Danes received her trophy for working on Showtime's "Homeland." Afterward, I got to gush to her about how much I enjoy the series. (And, yes, I have seen the first episode of the new season!)

I got to catch up a bit with "Breaking Bad" co-star Aaron Paul and even met his bride-to-be, Lauren Parsekian.

Leah Thompson and Gilles Marini represented ABC Family's "Switched At Birth."

As a presenter of Outstanding Achievement in Reality TV, I met Mary Murphy and executive producer Barry Adelman from "So You Think You Can Dance," which earned the award.

Murphy had glitter on her face, and she was very sweet.

The winners were determined by the membership of the TCA, consisting of print and online reporters whose main source of income is based on writing about television.
