"NCIS" will mark its upcoming 200th episode (8 p.m. today, WVLT, Channel 8) with the spectre of an East Tennessee star.
Actor Muse Watson, who is a local landowner and occasional resident, is returning as the dearly departed Mike Franks in a fantasy sequence in tonight's episode.
The sequence has Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) looking back on pivotal moments from his past, and what got him to this place in his career, "NCIS" executive producer Gary Glasberg said.
"There are moments where (Gibbs) gets to converse with (Mike)," who will act as a guide to show Gibbs how different his life might have been if his decisions had been different, Glasberg said.
As the boss behind the scenes, Glasberg appreciates what Watson brings to the show.
"There's a heart and a soul to the performances of Muse Watson that informs us a lot about the Gibbs character and what drives him," Glasberg said.
He calls Mike Franks the Yoda to Gibbs' Luke Skywalker.
"Franks knows where all the skeletons are buried," Glasberg said.
Franks is only back for the one night.
"He's definitely dead," Glasberg said, "but we love to use him whenever it works."
nTalkin'. Knoxville resident Moll Anderson will be promoting her latest book on "The Talk" (2 p.m. Wednesday, WVLT).
Anderson's book is titled "The Seductive Home."
The book highlights "the elements to create sensory-scaped rooms and intimate spaces, while uncovering the keys that create a seductive home and life," according to Anderson's website.
The book is 224 pages, and the final chapter delivers the before-and-after photos of each location, revealing how an empty space can be transformed.
nTruckin'. Harrogate, Tenn., resident Shane Smart is one of the stars of the new reality cable series "World's Toughest Trucker," debuting Monday.
In the competition, eight of the world's most experienced truck drivers go head to head in some of the world's harshest environments in order to win $150,000.
Each journey/challenge lasts three days and contestants must face unusual cargo, massive rigs, lethal roads and each other. Along the way, the weak will be eliminated for slow times and penalties.
"World's Toughest Trucker" can be seen at 10 p.m. on Discovery Channel.
Smart's competition includes Derek Martin (also known as Ice Man) who keeps cool under pressure and used to the slick and steep roads of his native Canada; an Alabaman rookie whose mouth can run faster than his rig; and the explosive Aussie loner Rodney Johnson, who always seems to find teamwork to be the toughest part of the assignment.
